Last night’s dinner with my extended family was held at everyone’s favourite buffet restaurant, Cafebiz! It was just as delicious as the last time we went. However I was a little disappointed with the un-freshness of the seashell-food, particularly the mussels and scallops. I didn’t eat as much seafood as the first time I went. Though I still enjoyed the rest very much.
As we have eaten at Cafebiz before, we knew what was some of the best things to eat. One of the very best and probably the most popular dessert in the restaurant was Durian Puree! (Side note: I didn’t know what was the actual name at first, but gained knowledge after reading jingling’s blog. XD)
It was one of the food which I looked most forward to eating when I knew we were going to Cafebiz. To durian lovers, this is a heavenly dessert. It’s rich in flavour, sweet and has a soft texture that seems to melt in your mouth after savouring a bite.
The dessert was so good, it’s pretty much sort after by diners and that of course includes us. Before we even finish our food for main course, our minds were already set on the Durian Puree. The thing was, this dessert was very popular but the production time was slow and minimal. During the first round, we got Chewz to help us get the puree. She managed to got hold of 5 cups out of 7. It was embarrassing to get all the cups of puree, she said. Lol.
After a while my uncle went to the dessert table to look for the puree but none were left! So he “coup” 1 cup from us.
Everyone was desperate for the puree. We only had 5 cups for our whole family of 18. And the restaurant staff do not seem to be “refilling” the empty puree portion of the dessert table. It took a looooooooonng while for the 2nd round of newly “stocked” puree to be out but there were only 6 new cups. I was the only person at the dessert table holding a macron and I got so excited upon seeing the new cups, I just dashed to our table to announce the new arrivals.
Almost everyone was like “OMG! QUICK!” and ran to the dessert table, especially my uncle who was fast enough to “coup” all 6 cups! He distributed the cups to the elderly of our table. So we (cousins) didn’t have any.
In the 3rd round of new puree stock, everything was gone in a flash again. This time round, other diners were faster than us.
So we were quite desperate after that. Most of us only had 1 cup or didn’t eat any at all. When the 4th round came, jingling, Jovi and I were getting some chocolate fondue. Upon seeing the puree, jingling and I dropped what we were doing and chiong to the chef who had the tray of puree in his hands. Other diners were crowding round too so we had to rush for the puree. Lol…
You can’t imagine how desperate and excited we were. But in the midst of all that puree-snatching, someone (either chups or chewz, I forgotten who it was) came to tell us to stop taking from the dessert table because the chef had already brought out two plates of puree cups JUST FOR OUR TABLE! Haha. Jingling already got a hold of two cups from the dessert table! We laughed like mad after that. We were so desperate trying to get the puree when we already have so many served for us! XD
In the end, everyone got to enjoy the puree. In fact, it became too much for us to finish. The remaining puree cups were pushed here and there. –_-“ I had to force down the last cup! Omg… lol. To think we were still running around and snatching for the durian puree a while ago. I had 4 cups of puree altogether. Soooo delicious.
On a random note which has got nothing to do with the above topic but is related to the previous blog entry, Ayaka has got Graves' Disease. That's why the couple got married so soon. Hiro wants to protect and take care of her. How sweet! All the best to the couple...
